Οι πυρηνικές βόμβες προβάλλονται δόλια ως 'λύση' για την απόκρουση αστεροειδών, ώστε να μην συζητιέται η ασφαλής αποτροπή και άλλων καταστροφών με λέιζερ-πλάσμα, ενώ η απειλή χρήσης τους έχει αποδειχθεί ότι είναι μια παρανοϊκή ιδέα:

1. Κάθε πύραυλος με πυρηνικά μπορεί να εκραγεί μετά την εκτόξευση

2. Η απόκρουση του αστεροειδή μπορεί να αποτύχει, κυρίως επειδή είναι ηλεκτρισμένος και θα χτυπήσει με κεραυνούς τους πυραύλους πριν καν πλησιάσουν 

3. Ακόμα και αν του αλλάξουν πορεία, τι αποκλείει να πέσουν κομμάτια με ραδιενέργεια στη Γη;

4. Γιατί να εμπιστευθεί η ανθρωπότητα μια κλίκα που θα θέλει να στρέψει τον αστεροειδή σε κάποια χώρα;

5. Αν ήταν μια λογική λύση, γιατί τόσες δεκαετίες δεν κάνουν δοκιμές σε διερχόμενους αστεροειδείς, ούτε έχουν σύστημα έγκαιρης προειδοποίησης;;;

6. Κι αν δεν έχουν δόλο, για ποιο άλλον λόγο δεν συζητιέται το ζήτημα ΔΗΜΟΣΙΑ;;;
